Our energy balance
For the sake of the environment
We are very closely connected to nature.
That’s why there’s nothing more obvious for us than to take care of the environment during the Lichterglanz spectacle.
Whether in the selection of fairy lights, energy procurement or the choice of materials for the light sculptures – we focus on sustainability, energy efficiency and longevity in every area.
Our fairy lights
Radiantly beautiful and durable
Our fairy lights for the glittering light spectacle can do more! 80% of Co2 emissions from fairy lights are generated during production. That’s why we pay close attention to the service life. The fairy lights we use have a 36% smaller CO2 footprint over their entire service life than comparable products. But that’s not all. By using only LED lighting technology for the fairy lights, an extraordinarily low energy consumption – around 4 kilowatt hours of electricity per day to be precise – is possible.
Our energy supply
Taking energy further
We rely on renewable energy for our energy supply. More than half of the energy required for the Glittering Lights Spectacular is generated by our photovoltaic systems and their energy storage units. They are located on the roofs of our buildings and supply the lights with renewable energy. We also utilise heat recovery from our ice cold stores to generate electricity. The remaining heat requirement is covered by our in-house local heating system (wood chip heating).
Our light sculptures
Organic material
Our light sculptures not only shine with sustainable energy and fairy lights, but are also made from natural materials. This is because bio-based plastics based on the mass balance principle or wood are used for the surfaces. All produced in Europe. The organic materials also contribute to a lower CO2 footprint – the motifs have a long service life.
A heart for animals
Animal welfare as top priority
Animal welfare is close to our hearts. That is why we have focussed heavily on the topic of animals and light parks. We use a warm white, soft light that has a very low impact on wildlife. The light sources have been specially developed for outdoor use and have very low light emissions.
